of men and mice
This post has NO political insights nor form any part of riot or revolt (non-voluntarily) intentions of the reader. Please also be assured that any form of lambastations will be taken with a bowl of strawberries and cream and sucked on for cheers; blog WILL NOT be taken down no matter what. What?
Oh, of mice and men
I am very relieved that our PAP, a non non-democratic and children loving society plans to extend their short reached arms out to the humane side of society through further income tax reductions in the near future and 40% hike in GST in the immediate future. Excuse moi my dear government...raise hand..but umm, I thought the poor are those that do not earn more than a certain figure a month, like $1500 for total family income? My friend earns $2000 a month and she doesn't need to pay income tax..thank you government. So, even if you do not reduce the income tax, actually they are not affected hor? Hmm..GST applies to everything right? Its just whether it gets absorbs into our purchases or blatantly added, yes? Even the poor grandma has to pay GST for her rice right..umm, then where is the discount ah?
Oooh..I get it. We all pay higher GST because we trust the newly elected government headed by the who and whose son to build us a better life and this hike will help the poor BECAUSE the rich doesn't get taxed so much then they can donate their peanuts to the poor? Which poor? The NKF poor? Or the organisations zipping their directors around in a new SLK? Still very poor..the welfare homes, I understand.
Mice are rodents that are purely disgusting, feeding on mostly anything. Never portrayed as smart but always portrayed as slinky and shrewd. Think Pinky and the Brain. Difference. Both breeds contempt but one stays through to its form while the latter reeks of political indifference or supposedly reeks of indifference and was called to task by the "I'll help you build a stronger country" mini- elite society.
I heard the public transport costs are going to rise, which is well-deserved they argue. Its been years since the last raise..but wait, standing on my end of the tightening noose, didn't bus fares and train fares just increase twice in 3 years? Oh yes, of course..increase the ERP, Road Tax. Comes in stages, just like our retrenchment practices. Well, make it more expensive to travel by car and we must travel by the (just-made-expensive) cheap public transport. Oh, there's a good deal for the tier in society that makes enough to save maybe $100 a month, not earning less enough to claim bursury, welfare, cash vouchers but not rich enough to buy a quilt or enjoy a trip overseas. Deal? Ah yes, the bus operator has just offered a bus pass for less than $100. Wow, super good deal. I must be struck blind to buy this pass. At $98 for 30 days, I better travel only on bus and at least 3 times a day to earn back this investment not including the wasted travelling time. Sure, its a good deal. Pat on your backs..does the government know about this deal? Wonder if they have bought their passes yet? I sure hope to sit next to my MP one day.
PSST: My MP claims to have walked my ward (Aljunied: spanning from Paya Lebar to Serangoon) at least twice but I have never heard the slightest sound of his white ribes swishing past, must be my deaf hearing as is with my near blind sight.
